Lalor on alert for Short
RETURNING Brisbane Heat fast bowler Josh Lalor knew all too well about the talent of Hobart Hurricanes batsman D’Arcy Short without having to be reminded of it at the Gabba last week.
On the sidelines as he nursed a fractured thumb, Lalor could do nothing but watch as Short smashed 122 not out from 69 balls as the Hurricanes beat the Heat.
The teams meet again at Blundstone Arena in Hobart tonight, with Lalor fit again and desperate to limit the damage Short may cause.
Having played alongside Short in indigenous Australian representative teams, Lalor was anything but surprised by his former teammate’s unbeaten Gabba knock.
“He’s definitely always had the talent,” Lalor said.
“There are so many other cricketers in the country that have similar talent, but it’s how they apply themselves and whether they are given a chance that’s just as important.
“It good that D’Arcy is making the most of his chance … but we don’t want him continuing his good form against us ( tonight).”
Left- arm quick Lalor returns after missing three games out, replacing Jack Prestwidge in the only change to the Heat’s 13- man squad.
The Heat are in fourth spot on the ladder with four wins from seven matches.
The Hurricanes have also won four times but have played one less game than Brisbane.
