INTOLERANCE ON THE RISE

-

VEGAN protesters coming soon to a steak house near you.

How about that Aussies are raised to be tolerant? Sometimes we are too tolerant of the intolerant. Most of the time we are too tolerant for our own good. My wife and daughter and two friends were caught up the Australia Day demonstration in Melbourne last week.

The people at the front of the march were shouting obscenities about white people and Australia. It was scary. It was hideous.

There was the woman screaming “f--- Australia, hope it burns to the ground”. What a little charmer. She’s done a lot for the cause.

Talks about Aboriginal people and their hard lives and lives in Melbourne. Not in Doomadgee, Mornington Island, Pormpuraaw or Lockhart River. Melbourne.

And then on Saturday night, a group of animal libbers invade Rare Steakhouse in Melbourne and abuse customers via megaphones for eating meat. That is over the top and makes you wonder where it is all heading. Perhaps the animal libbers who invaded the restaurant might care to come up to Queensland beef cattle capital Charters Towers ( sorry Rocky, you are yesterday’s hero) next week where cattlemen are gathering for the 25th Big Country Brahman Sale.

Every pub and restaurant in town will be trying to outdo each other in the steak department. Animal libbers who want to vent their intolerance towards those who like their beef, lamb or whatever should not expect the red carpet treatment in the Towers. People are starting to run out of tolerance.

The needle on the tolerance tank is pointing to empty. Tolerance might be in short supply out in the Towers, but one thing the city won’t be short of is mouth- watering steak cooked, rare, medium or well done. Make mine crumbed, cut thin, with mashed potato and fried onion.
