Singaporean CEO to visit Townsville
BUSINESS people are being urged to take the opportunity to hear one of Singapore’s most influential business leaders when Heang Fine Wong visits the city next week.
Mr Wong, CEO of the Singaporean governmentowned consultancy firm Surbana Jurong Private Ltd, is being hosted by Townsville Enterprise and will be keynote speaker at a luncheon at The Ville Resort- Casino on February 7.
Townsville Enterprise director, policy and investment, Michael McMillan said the visit arose from a successful trade mission to Singapore last September and the strategic partnership with Australia, particularly relating to new Singaporean defence training ties with Townsville.
“We are fortunate to have Mr Wong here next week,” Mr McMillan said.
“We see it as a critical opportunity for small and medium- sized enterprises to tap into one of the most successful and influential corporations across the ASEAN region.
“There is a genuine hand of friendship being extended to the North Queensland economy.
“It’s up to our region to take advantage of Mr Wong’s visit to Townsville.”
Mr McMillan said Townsville Enterprise was running a series of events including the Singapore and Townsville – Opportunity Beckons luncheon.
Mr Wong’s presentation will offer valuable insights into Singapore’s transformation into an economic powerhouse.
Mr McMillan said Mr Wong was one of the most prominent engineers in the world, having led the redevelopment and urban renewal of Singapore.
Surbana Jurong is Asia’s premier consultancy firm for urban, infrastructure and engineering solutions, acquiring the Snowy Mountains Engineering Corporation in 2016.
It has a workforce of 13,500 employees across more than 120 offices in some 40 countries.
