Two MPs get laugh over bed mix- up
IT SEEMS Katter’s Australian Party is willing to go to extreme lengths to get into bed with the LNP after its Townsville- based rookie MP was caught out during Parliamentary O Week.
LNP frontbencher Jarrod Bleijie received a shock when arriving back at his parliamentary room in the early hours of the morning to find serial gym poser Nick Dametto scantily clad and asleep in his bed.
The pair have since been able to laugh off the incident, with Mr Dametto putting it down to an “honest mistake” made by a parliamentary staffer.
“Normally if I’m asleep in bed and the lights come on I expect to see my wife,’’ Mr Dametto said.
“The incident clearly hasn’t lowered Jarrod’s opinion of me, going by his imitation post of me in the gym last week.
“It was one of my first experiences of Parliament House and one I won’t forget.’’
Mr Bleijie, who has occupied the room ever since he was first elected as an MP, said the incident was a first in his nine- year parliamentary career.
“I thought I was dreaming, because we all know the only bed the Katter Party is interested in getting into is Labor’s,” he said.
Adding to his adventurous first stint in Parliament, Mr Dametto was also warned by clerk Neil Laurie to cease posting photos from the in- house gym as it was considered off limits to media.
