Injury spells end to Henshaw’s slopestyle bid
Winter Olympics history.
Queensland’s Olympic debutant Jackie Narracott finished in 16th place.
An emotional Yarnold said: “I guess four years ago, three years ago the whole team all dared to dream that this was possible and I just went with all them ( and) we managed it.”
Izzy Atkins earlier won slopestyle bronze making it the first time Britain have won three Winter Olympic medals in the same day. RUSS Henshaw’s injuryinterrupted Winter Olympics campaign has come to an end after the slopestyle skier failed to qualify for the event’s finals.
Henshaw ( 72.60 points) finished 19th, with only the top 12 going through to the medal rounds.
It had been a tough lead- up for the 27- year- old who had to get a medical clearance just to compete in PyeongChang.
A pioneer in the sport and a former X Games silver medallist and two- time podium finisher at the world championships, Henshaw has had a litany of knee issues. He’s torn his ACL three times and experienced issues with his left knee in the lead- up to the Games.
Looking stiff and unable to go as big off the jumps as many of his competitors on Sunday, Henshaw did well to log two clean runs.
Sweden’s Oscar Wester ( 95.40) qualified first, ahead of Swiss Andri Ragettli ( 94.20).
