UPGRADE EXCITEMENT

- KELSIE IORIO

COLUMBA Catholic College students have arrived back for the 2018 school year to a beautiful $ 5.2 million upgrade to their school grounds.

The Charters Towers boarding and day school received refurbishments to both their St Mary’s junior campus and the Mount Carmel senior campus over the summer holidays.

Columba Catholic College principal Daniel McShea said the hardworking team at W& F Constructions put the final touches on the upgrades just before the new school year began.

“I am so excited to present our new facilities to new and returning students to both of our college campuses,” he said. The Mount Carmel campus has received an extensive upgrade of eight new classrooms, a new science laboratory a brand new ‘ bull ring’ and outdoor covered tiered seating for 550 people.

The St Mary’s campus has been expanded with six refurbished classrooms for 2018.

Mr McShea said the upgrades looked great and would provide students with the opportunity to get more out of their studies.

“Everything we do is directed towards better student outcomes,” he said.

“Investing in our school infrastructure is important to ensure we provide our students with the latest, quality education facilities so that they have the best opportunity to learn and succeed in their studies.”
