HARRIET’S BIG BREAK

-

HOMEGROWN actress Harriet Dyer has landed her first US role as Los Angeles’ pilot season gets into full swing.

Dyer, who grew up in Townsville and is best known for her role in Channel 9 television series Love Child, has landed the lead role in a crime drama pilot for US television channel NBC.

In Between Lives centres around Cassie, played by Dyer, a mysterious young woman who teams up with a veteran detective from the Los Angeles Police Department and an ex- FBI agent, using her gift of clairvoyance to solve cases.

Her ability allows her to see vicious crimes and talk to the dead, who are seeking help for their problems. The pilot will shoot in Vancouver and while Dyer is keeping mum about the role at the moment, she did say she was “really looking forward to it”.

In Between Lives has been written by Moira Kirland, known for her work as coexecutive producer on Medium.

She has again picked up an executive producer role alongside David Heyman – known for the Harry Potter films – and industry veteran Nancy Cotton.

Traditionally when a network in the US orders a pilot, it allows them to see what a television show will look like.

Some get picked up and turned into full series, others aren’t so lucky.

Plenty of fans in Townsville will be crossing their fingers for Harriet ... wouldn’t it be nice to see a local land such a plum role for keeps?
