Townsville Bulletin

Big boon for local charities

-

TOWNSVILLE’S Castle Club will never be torn apart after rallying together for their first community event and reeling in thousands for two worthy causes.

The Castle Club, launched in January this year as an initiative of the Townsville Bulletin, hosted an event which featured a member of legendary Australian rock band INXS, Kirk Pengilly, and guest interviewer Sofie Formica at The Ville Resort- Casino.

Titled “Never Tear Us Apart” the Castle Club’s evening offered great raffle prizes and a two- course meal with funds going to charities Rize Up and The Challenge Games.

The event attracted over 230 business people from the region to support the cause and saw $ 2500 raised.

The Townsville Bulletin matched this figure, to bring the total to $ 5000, to be divided between the two chosen charities.

Rize Up Australia is a community driven organisation, dedicated to providing practical support to women and families affected by domestic and family violence.

The Challenge Games is a unique athletics carnival which focuses on participation and fun; a carnival which students who have a disability can meet new people and make new friends as well as encouraging all students to achieve at their ability sporting level.

Great raffle prizes included INXS albums, overnight stay at The Ville and Cowboys tickets, all donated by sponsors, the Townsville Bulletin, The Ville Resort- Casino and LGIA Super. For information about the club and the next event, head to its Facebook page.
