SMOKE OUT THE TRUTH

- TALEN COX GRADE 6, HERMIT PARK STATE SCHOOL

The Government seems to value money more than the country’s own welfare.

If the Government does care for our health they should take even more drastic measures to stamp out smoking.

Why will the Government not do this?

Because they earn too much money from taxes.

Smoking creates a domino effect that will always end in tragedy.

Some people are so poor and so addicted they must make a decision, feed their children or buy a packet of cigarettes; not all make the right choice.

An efficient way to deal with smoking is to give out smoking licences.

All people who smoke must have a licence, given out by doctors.

This will stop our smoking rate from increasing and shield the next generation from smoking.

Before getting a smoking licence smokers must have a health check with their local doctor. Every 12 months they will renew this licence and get another health check, this licence must be provided when purchasing cigarettes.

In conclusion, the Government leaves much to be desired with “nearly one billion people worldwide dying of smoking each year” ( Thechartblogs. cnn. com).

They need to take more drastic measures such as smoking licences to save our next generation.
