Licorice in good form to take on the best

- LEE PEARCE

GREYHOUND racing returns to the Townsville Showgrounds tonight with a 10- race program.

Race 6 is the Tella Photography 3/ 4th Grade over 380m.

Licorice Shot ( 1), for Rhonda Essery, will start as the short- priced favourite after putting together four straight wins. His last start was a fifth behind Bimbadgen Man over 498m. He’s back to his favourite distance and has a BT 21.89. Pass The Ammo ( 2), for Robert Lound, is well suited here and has strung a couple of wins together four starts back, with a BT 21.86. She will be a danger to the favourite each way claims. Road Monster ( 8), for Clarence Wilcox, is suited out wide, with good speed from the jump, and will be up there with the leaders.

Race 7 is the Waters Abrasive Blasting 4/ 5th Grade over 498m.

Lodgement ( 4), for Harold Hovi, should start favourite after his smart win last week in 28.95. He hasn’t drawn as well tonight but if he can begin, he will be hard to catch on the bunny. Tina Sierra ( 2), for Greta Thomson, is a first starter over this distance and track, having raced at Casino, Grafton, Lismore and Rockhampton. Bashful Cloud ( 7), for Michael Hickmott, ran second last week behind Lodgement, has a strong finish and is a danger to the favourite, each way claims. Willy Rocket ( 6), for Clarence Wilcox, has good box manners and will be up there with the leaders’ place chance.

Owners trainers and patrons note kennels close at 6.10pm and the first race is 6.55pm.
