This mystery should make a killing

-

TOWNSVILLE’S Little Theatre is taking audiences to the British countryside for a “whodunit” murder mystery with plenty of laughs.

Bloody Murder opens tonight at the Pimlico State High School Performing Arts Centre ( PIMPAC).

The show is set on a country estate where unrelated characters are invited for the weekend.

Directors Eric Blyth and Anna Coombe have been working hard to bring the show to the region.

Mr Blyth said the show was full of cliches. “It’s a bit spoof on the murder mystery genre,” he said.

“It takes things you may expect to see in any murder mystery and plays havoc with them, just by turning the whole thing on its head.”

Mr Blyth said the play’s American author, Ed Sala, had written to the theatre with praise for bringing the play to an Australian audience, indicating it was a rare treat for Townsville residents to witness.

“We would love for everyone to come along and be prepared for a very funny show,” he said.

“There are a few things we have added to the script that puts a Townsville Little Theatre touch on it too. Just be ready to expect the unexpected.”

Bloody Murder will be held from Wednesday to Saturday at PIMPAC, with tickets now available through the theatre’s website, townsvillelittletheatre.org.au.
