NICOLE IS NAILING IT

- CHRISTIE ANDERSON christie. anderson@ news. com. au

HER home business was bursting at the seams so nail technician Nicole Stokes decided it was time to expand, opening Nix Nails.

The Railway Estate salon on Third St opened last month offering a variety of nail and beauty services.

Ms Stokes said the Railway Estate location appealed to her because she had grown up in the suburb and many of her clients also lived there.

“I wanted to separate home and work life and also my cli- ents were wanting spa pedicures and I was only in a small room with carpet so it was time to expand,” she said.

“I’m a Railway Estate girl so I wanted something in Railway Estate.”

The salon provides manicures, pedicures, callus peel treatments, waxing, eyebrow and eyelash tinting, ionic detox foot baths and most beauty services.

Ms Stokes said she became interested in nails as a creative outlet but it soon turned into a career.

“I’ve always been an artistic person and I used to paint my own nails and then someone said I should go and do a nail course,” she said.

“I’ve been in the industry for four years and I love it.

“I also enjoy educating my clients about different products like gel and acrylics.”

Ms Stokes said the quality of her service set her apart from many of her competitors.

“I get most of my clients from word of mouth,” she said.

“It’s about quality, not quantity, and my clients don’t leave the salon until they are happy.

“They are paying for a service so I make sure they get what they want.

“I make sure I listen to them because at the end of the day it should be all about them.”
