Ready to bowl us over

NORTH Queensland Cowboy Gavin Cooper is bringing a new flavour to Townsville at Fairfield Central.

Currently across four locations in Brisbane, Suki stores have fun fitouts and offer healthy build- your- own poke ( pronounced po- kay) bowls and sushi burritos.

You pick the base ( think different rices, green leaves or quinoa), hot or cold protein ( fish, tofu, chicken, prawns or beef), dressings ( perhaps togarashi mayo or mango, lime and chilli), salads ( maybe orange, carrot, kale or corn) and top it off with the likes of pickled ginger, sesame seeds or avocado.

Part- owner Cooper launched the business in Townsville last night with Zambrero development agents Shaun McCarthy and Shane Muspratt. Cooper said he had been considering a business opportunity in the region for some time.

“Suki was the right fit, as it couples with Sporty Kids Australia ( launched by wife Tenille Cooper and Hayley Allen) in being all about keeping healthy and leading that sort of lifestyle,” he said.

“My kids love sushi, so they are on board. It’s healthy, fresh, simple, quick and good on the pocket too,” he said.

Mr McCarthy said judging by Facebook feedback so far, Suki was going to be a hit.

“The uni demographic has really taken off,” he said.

“I think today with body image and social media, everyone wants to be healthier.”

Last night Suki held a soft opening with about 60- 70 guests made up of family and friends, media, TEL representatives, Laurence Lancini and Townsville Fire players.

Suki is now open at Fairfield Central, Idalia from 10am to 9pm, seven days a week.
