Royal bub on way as Kate goes into labour
THE world was waiting with bated breath for the arrival of another tiny royal late last night after Catherine, the Duchess of Cambridge, went into labour.
She arrived at St Mary’s Hospital in Paddington early yesterday ( London time), ahead of the imminent arrival of her and Prince William’s third child.
She is being cared for in the private Lindo Wing, where she also gave birth to the couple’s first two children, Prince George, 4, and Princess Charlotte, 2.
William, 35, was by her side in the delivery room.
Kensington Palace made the exciting announcement via email and Twitter at 8.22am London time.
“Her Royal Highness the Duchess of Cambridge was admitted to St Mary’s Hospital, Paddington, London, earlier this morning in the early stages of labour,’’ the palace said.
“The Duchess travelled by car from Kensington Palace to the Lindo Wing at St Mary’s Hospital with the Duke of Cambridge.’’
The Metropolitan Police set up barricades outside the hospital as the British press and hundreds of dedicated royal fans rushed to stake out positions in the hopes of being among the first to see Catherine and the new baby.
The child will be fifth in line to the throne, behind grandfather Prince Charles, father William and siblings George and Charlotte.
