61/ 63 Palmer St, South Townsvile The family that owns this venue is ecstatic to have topped the list.

Holly and Wes Newman took over Crown on Palmer in mid- 2015 and have loved running the popular eatery, which has earned growing support.

“The loyalty from the locals now and throughout the move has been phenomenal,” she said. “Our regulars backed us all the way.”

Ms Newman said the venue’s success was attributed to its consistenc­y in service from meals to customers, as well as keeping up with society’s demands.

“We have a strong focus on gluten- free options and we are very strict about providing that quality for diners as well,” she said. “We get all our meat from Riverway Meats and have a great range of seafood, all locally sourced, too.”

Ms Newman said it had always been her husband’s dream to run his own venue. “Wes lives it and thrives on it,” she said. “It’s definitely what we enjoy and we would like to continue staying in the Townsville market as long as possible.” finish with green ant cheese and Kakadu plum ice- cream was the best,” he said. 13 Palmer Street, South Townsville David Reeson booked this restaurant for his 19th wedding anniversar­y, and dived straight in to the degustatio­n menu. While the meal was fantastic and could not be faulted, Mr Reeson said the best part of the night was the final dish. “Our wonderful waiter heard us talking about it being our anniversar­y, and dessert came out decorated with a lovely message wishing us a happy anniversar­y,” he said. 1 Palmer St, South Townsville The chefs and cooks are doing it right at JAM Corner, according to customer Kassia Dean: “Amazing food and fine dining at its best. Taste and presentati­on is on point and food comes out fairly fast.”
