Madagaster leaves rivals eating her dust
THIS week’s greyhound meeting featured a ten- race program with the feature race being the 4/ 5th Grade Final over 380m.
Annandale trainer Clarence Wilcox had a great night when his smart greyhound Madagaster took out Race 7, the Town Automatics 4/ 5th Grade Final over 380m.
At the jump Madagaster began well with Go Prancer Go and Magic Wishes just be- hind. Madagaster was able to get away from the field, leaving Magic Wishes and Oldmate Gretel to try and catch her, and going into the home straight Madagaster had put a few lengths between her and the field.
She went on for a comfortable 4.5- length win in 21.89 BON, and Magic Wishes came home for second and Oldmate Gretel third.
Clarence also got the winner in Race 8 the 2/ 3rd Grade over 380m with Willy Rocket. Starting evenly from the jump, Licorice Shot got to the front from Lochielle and Willy Rocket, coming into the bend Willy Rocket and Gold Total were having a great battle in front with Mate Kick and Licorice Shot close behind.
Willy Rocket got clear to score by 1.25- lengths in 22.15 from Gold Total and Licorice Shot.
Trainer Brad Belford made a return to training after having a lengthy break, his first winner back came in Race 3, the O’Reilly Pet Food 5th Grade over 380m, with Black Rusky scoring by 2.25 lengths in 21.98.
Black Rusky is from a winning litter including Licorice Shot and Magic Doug – it was a great welcome back for Brad.
