Fensom will give it his all in return

- TRAVIS MEYN TRENT SLATTER

COWBOYS coach Paul Green says tireless forward Shaun Fensom will not let the Cowboys down when he makes his return from the heartbreaking injury which soured last year’s NRL grand final.

Fensom has been parachuted back into the Cowboys team to face his former club Canberra at 1300SMILES Stadium tonight following long- term injuries to middle forwards John Asiata ( torn pec) and Jordan McLean ( foot).

And despite having only played one Queensland Cup match since his horrific broken leg, Green said the Cowboys cult hero would not be found out.

“He is an old pro. He knows what’s expected of him and he’s looking forward to the fact it’s against his old club,” Green said.

“It’s only his second game back so I don’t expect him to knock out 80 minutes ( but) one thing about Fenno is whatever he’s got, he will give you.”

Green would not comment extensively on the fitness of fullback Lachlan Coote, who aggravated a rib injury last week, other than to say he was “good”.

Meanwhile, the Cowboys have locked down one of their rising stars after Emry Pere agreed to a two- year contract extension with the club.

A 106kg forward who can play either prop or secondrow, Pere has enjoyed a strong start to the season with the Northern Pride.

“Emry is a very good young player who is still eligible for under- 20s and is holding his own playing in the front row in the Queensland Cup,” Cowboys football manager Peter Parr said.
