LEARNING FOR ALL
STUDENTS at Ignatius Park College are aiming to break down the stereotype of an “all- boys school”.
Ignatius Park used their recent Open Day to show the diversity of both classes and extracurricular activities that boys can not only get involved with but flourish in, even at an all- boys school.
Principal Shaun Clarke said an integrated approach to learning was vital in breaking down preconceived notions of masculinity and femininity.
“We cater for all students, it really is tailor- made,” Mr Clarke said. “Our focus is on building confidence and pride in whatever skills the students have.
“We’re really about looking at the skill sets we need in the future for our kids.”
Mr Clarke said no that matter whether students excelled in hospitality, construction, information technology, music and drama, sport or anything else, the main focus of the school was to impart skills that would benefit future leaders in a globalised society.
“Liberating education for me is education that allows new experiences and unlocks potential,” he said. “Education has to be liberating.” PICTURED ABOVE: Liam FuscoWright, 17, and Thomas Bennett, 17, in the robotics area.
