GROOVE ROLLS ON AS ‘ GTM FAM’ ESCAPE

- CLARE ARMSTRONG

FROM the highs of the stage to the chilled out vibes of Magnetic Island, Groovin the Moo performers and support staff alike spent yesterday unwinding from the regional tour.

Australian electronic duo Flight Facilities and Brisbane band Ball Park Music were among dozens of musical acts and crew members spotted relaxing on the island yesterday after headlining Townsville’s Groovin The Moo on the weekend.

The annual “Maggie Island trip” has become a highlight for many of the festival’s performers, as they are given a rare opportunity to properly experience a location in the middle of a busy tour.

US rapper Lady Leshurr drew a huge crowd at yesterday’s festival and shared a video of the ferry ride to Magnetic Island, revealing her well- earned break had one slight problem.

“Heading to an island with free food, free drink, jet skis, water sports the lot – too bad that I’m still scared of water,” she said.

Australian singer Vera Blue shared a series of videos on her Instagram featur- ing her “GTM fam” fellow artists Flight Facilities, Tkay Maidza and Sampa the Great.

The artists were spotted relaxing poolside and exploring the island, with several taking jetskis out on to the water.

Ball Park Music’s Jen Boyce also shared some happy snaps of her bandmates enjoying the beautiful beach weather.

Other social media posts showed television personality Faustina Agolley having a boogie with singer Ella Hooper and Maidza, Flight Facilities, Ric Rufio and Graace testing out an iconic topless car.
