OVER THE RAINBOW

- KELSIE IORIO

SOUTHERN Cross Catholic College is set to transport audiences somewhere over the rainbow with their upcoming performance of The Wizard of Oz.

Students have been hard at work rehearsing after school and on weekends for months to perfect the everlasting classic.

Director Shelley Keehn said students from Years 5 to 11 make up the show.

“We have 99 in the cast and a dozen crew that are all students, which is awesome,” Ms Keehn said. “I’m very excited, I think they’re going to do amazingly, so I’m not nervous.”

Ms Keehn said the show was a little different from the classic Wizard of Oz tale.

“It’s the young performers’ edition, so it’s a little shorter, a bit sharper, the scenes are quicker so I think it’s a bit more interesting to watch because there’s a lot happening,” she said.

“( The students) are loving it, considering it’s a classic and it’s 80 years old, they’re just embracing what it means to be in it and giving it their own flavour and their own touch.”
