IN OUR SCHOOLS

-

KIRWAN State High School will proudly present their musical extravaganza Seussical the Musical this week at Riverway Arts Centre.

The musical has been recommended for the young and young at heart, and described as a whimsical musical caper where Dr Seuss’s best- loved characters collide and cavort in an unforgettable experience for the whole family.

Year 12 student Yazi Schellhorn will play Mayzie La Bird in Seussical the Musical, and said she has enjoyed the challenge of playing a character she isn’t similar to.

“There are not many characteristics that Mayzie and I share, which makes it even more interesting to play her role,” Yazi said.

“She is definitely sassy, enjoys having fun and living her best life, which I can relate to. The choices she makes throughout the story are a lot different to choices I would make.”

Yazi has performed in a number of other school musicals and said she enjoyed the good voices of the cast.

“I love the feeling of performing and creating an environment that keeps people wanting more,” Yazi said.

“When all the hard work comes together, it can then create something really unimaginable.

“Working with the cast is also amazing as everyone is so talented and we all feed off each other’s energy.”

Tickets can be purchased through WhatsOn Townsville’s Ticket Shop. Performances: Wednesday, May 23 — 7.30pm Thursday, May 24 — 7.30pm Friday, May 25 — 7.30pm Saturday, May 26 — 1pm, 7.30pm
