JetGo halts regular flights
JETGO Australia, which operates out of Townsville Airport, has put itself into voluntary administration.
“JetGo Australia Holdings Pty Ltd has entered into voluntary administration … administrators have been appointed,” a spokesman said yesterday.
“JetGo will continue limited charter operations, however all regular passenger transport scheduled services are currently suspended.”
JetGo had flown services from Townsville to the Gold Coast via Rockhampton.
A notice of application for winding up order was published on the Australian Securities and Investments Commission website.
A hearing will be held in the New South Wales Supreme court on June 18 from 9am.
“An application for the winding up of JetGo Australia Holdings Pty Ltd was commenced by the plaintiff Dubbo Regional Council on May 15,” the notice states.
JetGo’s managing director Paul Bredereck told Fairfax JetGo had appointed an administrator.
“The administrator is now assessing the viability and future operations of the business,” he said.
“During the period of administration the company has suspended regular public transport services. This includes flights from Illawarra Regional Airport. We hope this is a temporary measure.
Townsville Airport chief operating officer Kevin Gill said the airport was disappointed to hear the news of the voluntary administration.
“JetGo has been a valued partner of Townsville Airport and its parent company Queensland Airports Limited since commencing services to and from Townsville in September 2015,” he said.
“We worked with JetGo in recent months in an effort to assist the service to continue.
“Townsville Airport is awaiting further information from the JetGo administrator regarding the future of the services.”
Mr Gill encouraged JetGo passengers to contact the airline directly about future travel plans.
Meanwhile Qantas is offering special fares for JetGo customers affected by the cancellation of flights.
The fare deals, including a $ 285 flight from Rockhampton to Townsville, are being offered to JetGo customers with existing travel bookings scheduled between June 1 and June 30.
Bookings for these fares can only be made by contacting Qantas directly on 1300 659 116 or at airport sales desks in the affected ports.
