Woolf wary of Taylor’s impact despite Capras’ struggles ‘ Coal train’ on track

The Blackhawks lock horns with Taylor’s CQ Capras in Rockhampton this afternoon for the weekend’s Queensland Cup televised game, and are intent on getting back to a better level of consistency after having a six- game winning run broken by PNG Hunters last weekend.

Poor decision making, especially in the closing stages, cost the Blackhawks a club- first win in Port Moresby, and Woolf said a repeat against the Capras would spell trouble.

“They’re a good, tough footy side and in the last four weeks they’ve played really well,” he said.

“They’ve been hard to beat, and David Taylor has been providing a real impact for them.

“He’s a bit like how Neville Costigan was for us ( in 2015), he has real class … he’s an international forward and he’ll have a big impact on this game.

“Some of their other players have class as well, blokes like Nathan Bassani in the centres and their fullback Zeik Foster. Brothers MA Olympic Saints Warriors Brothers MA Olympic Saints V V V V V V V Rebels Burdekin Wulguru Ingham Rebels Burdekin Wulguru

“They have a good, workmanlike forward pack.”

The Capras sit second last on the Q Cup table with three wins, in contrast to the third- placed Blackhawks with their seven wins from 11 games, but the Capras have some big scalps, including ladder leaders Burleigh.

The Blackhawks will be without lock Joe Boyce, who injured his knee against PNG, but bring in proven Q Cup player David Munro.

“David’s never let us down when he’s come in,” Woolf said.

“He always adds something for us and he’s been playing some good footy for Centrals, up to 70- 80 minutes a game.

“Joe ( Boyce) is a big loss because he’s been playing good footy.

“But the thing with this team is that we have plenty of blokes putting their hands up.”

Today’s game will be broadcast on Channel 9 at 1pm.

In this weekend’s Townsville and Districts Rugby League, Norths face a tough trip to Ayr when they take on Burdekin tonight.

Burdekin suffered a 54- 0 loss to Western Lions last weekend but are expected to field a stronger team.
