Monorail system. Have the planners thought how or where people are to park when new Stadium opens? A monorail solves that - go Woolcock St/ Thuringowa Dr/ Ross River Rd/ Charters Towers Rd. Will move more people, solves parking problems. And may encourage people to go to City to boost it once again. Think there’s some sense in it - the present public transport is unreliable. Nkirwan Bill shock relief - you are joking, that is 35 cents a week, get rid of the meter reading fee of $ 90 every bill, I’ll then stop feeling ill. marty mtlouisa With State of Origin hype really high at the moment, I was talking with some friends of mine who are mostly NSW supporters, about the success of the Qld side in the last 12 years. I was amazed how they agreed with me as to how the Qld side had been far superior. But they also thought that the improvements in filming, video refs and the big screens had been a huge benefit to Qld by cleaning the game up. Russ Bushy Beach Hey boaties, Townsville Coast Guard need you to join to keep VMR408 on the water. Went out a while back with a supposed skipper. Didn’t put a trip notice in, not a paid up member of any Coast Guard and the marine radio was not working! Never again! Olegirl Jensen 4818 Re riot sentences re appeal ask the staff member with the eye injury jeff vincent 4810 Mr Lancini, leave the Northern Pride where they are, they’re an important piece in the The Rugby League Machine that is North Queensland & one that provides many champions, past, present and future. Pride will never be a reserve grade team & to think otherwise from someone as yourself is ignorance at best. Neil Hawken, Redcliffe Dolphins supporter What amazes me out of this whole live export debacle is why the hell the thousands of farmers in this country and shipping companies haven’t approached 60 minutes or the ABC and welcomed them aboard the ships to film the true treatment of animals. If the people in the cattle industry really gave a stuff why aren’t they showing the humane treatment of their animals on ships instead of the media reporting one sided stories. Bob 4815 Debra Gibson ( letters TB 1/ 6/ 18) seems to believe that a transition to a boxed meat trade would destroy the grazing industry and that the cruel live export trade is necessary. All the countries we export live animals to also import boxed meat, so why not sell a value added product? The Federal AMIEU states that live export is hurting meat workers and that every million head of cattle that is unavailable for meatworks to process equates to around 3000 jobs. Animal cruelty is simply wrong and the live exporters have had too many chances, it’s time to end this indefensible trade in animal suffering. Jenny Brown 4814 If the fiddlers three are committed to low cost baseload electricity for T’ville why don’t they tell Palaszczuk to charge us the same rates she charges the people of her electorate and don’t give me that rubbish about transmission costs. We all live in Qld. Keith 4811 JC west End …’ originating’? Apparently, the first genome analysis of an aborigine reveals that these early Australians took part in the first human migration out of Africa. My source is the journal ‘ Science’. Jen Rowes Bay Re ‘ indigenous’ JC of West End seems to be saying we cant be indigenous because we didn’t ‘ originate’ here. If we go back far enough everyone ‘ originated’ in Africa so the current theory tells us. Does JC agree? CA, Railway Estate To Jason Taumalolo, good game Thursday Happy Birthday from your no 1 Cowboy supporter Ruby Kirwan Late hits like the one on JT should be 20 minutes in the sin bin. An offending player will soon realise that his team will be one player short for 25 per cent of the match. Bob Railway Estate Are they going to kill or maim Johnathon Thurston before late tackles and or shoulder charge perpetrators are sent from the field. On report is not good enough. JW4814 Political wisdom dictates never start an inquiry without knowing the result of that inquiry beforehand. Surprise surprise Palaszczuk’s “community champion” from SE Qld Maj- Gen Stuart Smith is going to “rubber stamp” Puddleduck’s policy of not incarcerating the little darlings. Smithy, have your community meetings been “loaded” with do- gooders, because you are hopelessly out of touch with true community sentiment. Smith gets his payday, Puddleduck sells herself as caring & nothing changes. The loser? The Tville community. What a cruel hoax it’s all been. Pedro Cranbrook The fact that only 1 in 10 women completed basic training for the ADF, and only 24 of 152 women passed the basic infantry training course shows what a total sham recruiting “immediately” almost any woman rather than a man, was, and is. Best person for the job should always be the criterion, particularly in the ADF. Ags Hermit Pk If Pauline Hansen isn’t in the game called politics for Pauline Hansen and no one else then I am not here, she has cleverly made a lot of money out of politics, including all those years of near misses every time she ran as a candidate. Ron Kelso Re Jan on bicycle rego. As a bike and car user, I fully support a bike rego for one major reason. BMX bandits are riding unregistered or stolen bikes and this would result in the seizure of their criminal transport and take them off the roads for a couple of hours at least. Auto numberplate recognition in police cars would make auto selection of the unregistered or stolen plate and Police would nab them and take them home to mummy. Yes I know, police don’t need the extra workload but it’s a nice thought. Pete at Douglas Wouldn't it be great if politicians had to spend six months living in high crime suburbs and towns and experience what the citizens have to put up with, especially the old and immobile, living in fear and helpless, waiting for their home to be broken into and themselves attacked. Laws would certainly change then. Jeff 4818 Roseanne’s gone, and now it’s time to drain the swamp, and get rid of all the other crappy shows that are polluting our airwaves, like other unfunny sitcoms, reality shows, cooking shows, and all the repeats they’ve been feeding us for years, for god’s sake, give us something intelligent. D. Bilton w/ end So the answer to youth crime is heading towards community service. Will the grubs be given garden tools which can be used as weapons, then ordered to perform work, blind Freddy can see the outcome. Pity the people in charge of them, or will they sit around eating take away all day. Slim Cranbrook Why is every person in Australia whingeing, complaining, crying, sooking, about people of different colours, countries, sexual preferences, getting this and getting that. Getting more than me ( blah, blah, blah). We all have a sob story to tell, we all cry about mistreatment as a child or abuse from the ex partner, or from our past, but in the long run, we are all red blooded, breath oxygen, work to live day by day. So why can’t we all be classed as the same, with the same benefits across the whole of Australia. Mick Oakvalley What a joke. Townsvillians who like speedway have an hour to drive to Ayr. This is not even a full size track. We r a population of 200,000, and have got bugger all. They keep talking about crime, give us some entertainment. We all know how popular speedway was when it pulled over 8000 at the showground. Again not a full size track. Joe Blake
