HERMIT PARK STATE SCHOOL
PREPS to Year 2 and even Pre- Preps needed no invitation to have fun on May 31 when Hermit Park State School hosted Under 8s Day to celebrate children exploring language and culture.
Under 8s Week is an event organised annually by the Early Childhood Australia Queensland Branch through its Under 8s Week State Planning Committee.
Chalkboards, water play, box construction, fairy garden and bottle top mural were just some of age appropriate activities on offer to allow children to spark their imaginations, explore their creativity, socialise with their peers and extend their skills in a range of areas.
The theme this year was “Children Exploring Language and Culture”.
It created a great opportunity for an outdoor French classroom with the Year 3s showcasing their language learning.
BLUEWATER S TATE SCHOOL
Bluewater State School recently held its Under- 8s day at school, with all 200 children having a blast.
All students in Prep to Year 2 took part, with parents and caregivers joining in the fun.
The day saw children participate in activities such as bubble blowing, face painting, necklace making, biscuit making, shaving cream fun, indigenous sign making, parachute activities, an obstacle course, highland dancing, fence painting, headband making, playdough activities, waterplay, sandpit play, hopscotch, Japanese games, Lego and construction.
It was fantastic to have the opportunity to be outdoors – learning, playing and exploring. Under- 8s day at Bluewater State School in 2018 was a terrific experience for all students, staff and community members.
