GAMING KEEN FOR CYBERPUNK 2077
all the recent press out of E3, I’m most excited for Cyberpunk 2077. This cyberpunk genre always runs the same where megacorporations control the world, the rich are super rich and everyone else is doing whatever it takes to climb the ladder by any means.
These lower rungs of society are teaming with gangs, netrunners and hustlers, and the fictional Night City California serves as a melting pot for everything. You play as V, a fully voiced cyberpunk street warrior keen to make a name for themself. Keeping in line with an RPG, V can be whatever you create, male or female with a huge range of customisation to suit your punk mohawk requirements.
This long- teased game comes from CD Projekt Red, the nice- guy Polish developer responsible for the multiaward- winning Witcher trilogy.
With that kind of pedigree, the hype is justified, but fans of the Witcher have a right to be a little cautious. Cyberpunk is most definitely not like Witcher, far from it. Geralt is gone, as are the wide open spaces of nature. They’ve been replaced with crowds of punk- like characters, dirty alleys and cyber cafes. Immediate footage reveals the game view is locked in first person — that is standard in most shooter games.
But it’s not branded just a shooter, the game promises to be diverse with a wide variety of options to complete your missions. So far it’s promised for current- gen consoles, all that’s missing is a release date.
