Local cowboys and cowgirls made their supporters proud, domi- nating the competition competition, which att tracted plenty of talent from down south.

“It was a great night for the locals,” Townsville Western Pleasure & Performance Horse Club secretary Evelyn Dobbins said.

“Kye Keioskie won the open bull ride, Jordan Iker won the saddle bronc and William York won the bareback … they are all locals.”

Former local turned Tamworth cowgirl Katina Matthews took out the popular ladies barrel race.

Th The S Saturday t d night i h event also saw a new category for the Bartlett Park Rodeo – a seniors bull ride for over 40s.

“That was very popular and we had a bull rider in his 70s, so that is a fair effort,” Ms Dobbins said.

The money raised on the night goes directly into funding the club which is unique in its operation because it provides a reining and coaching facility for cowboys and cowgirls of all ages to learn, practise and compete in all aspects of rodeo.
