GAMING CRASH BANDICOOT REVIVAL
of financial year always brings out the good deals, but one of the best deals, available on Friday, is the complete Crash Bandicoot N- Sane trilogy.
You play the crazy marsupial Crash, a platforming icon of the ’ 90s, as you run, jump, spin and smash your way through fun but challenging adventures. In hindsight you’d expect nothing less but a great time from the developers of the hugely popular Uncharted series. Similar to Nintendo’s Donkey Kong, Crash was popular for its colourfully fun but challenging gameplay. Running from relentless boulders only to fall into a bottomless pit metres from the end zone for the 10th time was the definition of ragequit.
But the fun remained, and you’d walk it off or hand the controller over to your mate to have a go. The deal comes with the complete trilogy remastered for current console but with some extras. On top of the games being graphically enhanced, the developers have thrown in some extra levels, and you can even play as Crash’s girlfriend, Coco. I have a strange love- hate relationship with nostalgia- driven purchases. I guess the glaring issue with this is that it’s not a new game; it’s a remaster.
So for the likes of myself who grew up with this, the concept of buying again does leave a bad taste.
But I certainly love the idea of new generations of kids enjoying a familyfriendly series of games to play with their parents, which I think is good for everyone.
