SeaLink manager among new blood
SEALINK Queensland general manager Chris Briggs is one of a number of new people who have joined the Regional Development Australia Townsville and North West Queensland committee.
Other new members include Carpentaria Shire Mayor Jack Bawden and Burdekin Shire councillor John Woods.
Mr Briggs said he was particularly passionate about economic development in rural and regional communities.
“My life and work experience brings a keen understanding of a wide range of industries and the challenges they face operating within our region,” he said.
D e p u t y chair David D o n o h u e will now take on the role of acting chair, after Frank B e v e r i d g e stood down from the position late last week. Mr Beveridge has stepped down for the period he will be running as a candidate for the seat of Kennedy in the next federal election.
Mr Donohue said the new team provided a good reflection of the RDA area, with leaders from local government, small business and academia.
“All our committee members are passionate about supporting economic development in our rural and regional communities,” Mr Donohue said. “RDA committees play an active role in growing strong regional economies, identifying economic opportunities and attracting investment.”
