Allara lure to space

ALLARA Learning is moving into a bigger and better office as the training business rapidly expands.

Allara Learning provides hospitality, retail and business training to trainees, apprentices and unemployed people.

The business is currently based in Denham St in the city but after expanding from one team member to nine, it needed more space.

From August 1 it will be based at 3 Ramsay St in Garbutt, which has six times the space of the Denham St location.

Allara Learning Queensland state manager Arthur Burchett said it was a huge supporter of the Townsville community and had signed a threeyear lease for the Ramsay St premises, reaffirming its commitment to North Queensland.

“We train trainees and apprentices but we also train unemployed people to help them gain employment, and we work closely with The Ville and are also the exclusive training provider for Brothers Leagues Club,” he said.

“It started in Townsville 2 ½ years ago just with myself and I’ve expanded to nine staff in two years and we’ll be expanding more, which is the reason why I needed a large office.

“We see Townsville as a massive opportunity for businesses and I see a lot of growth coming.”

The company trains about 200 students a year and has several North Queensland Cowboys as students, including Michael Morgan and Jake Granville.

Mr Burchett said that the new location would allow Allara Learning to train more students.

“With the new place we will also have practical rooms with enough room for 30 students,” he said.

“This new location is well suited to an education provider and we’ve got a builder putting up some walls to make some classrooms for us.”

Ray White Commercial agent Troy Townsend, who negotiated the lease, said the building, which has undergone a massive renovation, had been the headquarters for five- star American General Douglas MacArthur in World War II.

“At that point in time it had a huge camouflage net over the entire building,” he said.

“This premises has 354sq m of space with multiple large training rooms.

“There is also another 600sq m of space still available upstairs.”
