BUYERS are continuing to snap up land at Elliot Springs as the satellite city officially opens today.
The estate, which has been developed by Lendlease, will eventually be home to as many as 26,000 people.
It’s predicted the masterplanned community will spark a wave of commercial development as the population of the estate grows.
Today, for the first time, potential buyers can drive into Elliott Springs and stand on completed lots.
Lendlease regional manager devel- opment for Elliot Springs Simon Walker said they were receiving strong interest from couples and families attracted to the affordability and larger lots on offer in the estate.
“Buyers have told us they are excited about the vision for Elliot Springs as it promises to be much more than a place to live,” he said.
“Builder interest has also been strong with 13 builders commencing construction on the first Display Village, which will showcase a variety of homes available for purchase to suit individual needs and budgets.”
The opening comes as Lendlease releases 15 new lots to meet buyer demand.
The lots offer mountain views, flat elevation and affordable price points.
The lots are for sale for between $ 110,000 and $ 166,000 and range in size form 313 sqm to 766 sqm.
The July 2018 Herron Todd White report states that Elliott Springs will contribute to retail expansion in Townsville’s southern corridor.
“The development is earmarked to include retail, education and light industry uses, with commercial lots currently available for potential service station and convenience centre developments,” the report states.
Elliott Springs is 15km south of Townsville and will include 10,600 homes in a 1609ha space when complete.
The satellite community is a 40year development project expected to be completed by 2056 and 30 per cent of the land area will be dedicated to open spaces such as parks and a con- servation area. A community facility is also planned and is due to open later this year, including a cafe, meeting space, digital portal and events space.
Owen and Ashley Davis have just purchased a 767 sqm block at Elliott Springs and they plan to build a fourbedroom, two- bathroom family home with plans to move in before Christmas. “We wanted the views and the mountains and to feel a little bit removed but still only be 10 minutes away,” Mr Davis said.
“We feel like this has got some really good plans for the future.
“We’re planning on having a family and there is plans for schools as well as a park down the road.”
