KAP a socialist group

- PETER J. SMITH, Rosslea.

ALLOW me to respond to the Saul D’Alinsky Ad Hom unleashed by Debra Gibson “Fault begins at home,” ( TB 13/ 7), on misrepresenting my objectively critical article of July 11 “LNP slant south”.

KAP is a socialist party, Debra Gibson.

In October 2017, Bob Katter doubled down on his CFMEU preferred status in an exclusive with Courier Mail editor Steve Wardill, declaring he was CFMEU’s No. 1 tribune in Queensland, closer than the Palaszczuk ALP Government – his words: fact!

Bob Katter has received $ 175,000 from the CFMEU, plus $ 50,000 in payments from the ETU. This information about these two union organisations comes from a quick scan of the pecuniary register – not socialist, Ms Gibson?

On April 23, 2018, in the Townsville Bulletin, the “Nabob” was at it again, slagging anyone ( me) who supports the Burdekin stage two wall elevation, which I have publicly supported via the Bulletin for seven years.

Hell’s Gate is the Katter game. I support it too, but logistics in a time of economic stringency suggests BFDS is achievable.

Newly minted KAP Senator Fraser Anning supports BFDS!

On free- market liberals trading our nation’s wealth, perhaps you should drive to Hughenden, slap bang in your beloved KAP “renewable” country, where the Kennedy innovative wind, solar, battery proposed 1200mw renewable farm – heavily “subsidised” by the taxpayer – is in full throttle.

Watching the offshore Chinese- made massive wind turbines offloading at the Townsville port, destination Hughenden, makes a mockery of your anti- Chinese rant – such cant.

The elevation of Susan McDonald to No. 2 on the L ( n) P Senate ticket has broad regional background acceptance.

This is the same McDonald family that spawned/ launched the political career – along with the late pearl Doug Logan from my town of Richmond – of Bob Katter in 1974!

KAP are a socialistic, populist driver reviver party but can’t do anything to facilitate overdue outcomes desperately needed now. Unashamedly, KAP have tied their political fortunes to the CFMEU/ ETU caravan, voting with ALP supporting the dismantling of the ABCC, and are certainly no friend of the genuine poor Joe and Mary citizen.

Nor are they a broadbased rural party: fact!

My advocacy will continue for water conservation/ security; easing of power costs by more coal- fired base- load power stations ( KAP don’t!); health, especially in regional areas; education with more emphasis on TAFE- based skills; and prioritised upgrade of road and rail infrastructure.

Tribalistic, emotional jawboning with no “means” of delivering major policy outcomes I will leave to KAP Groupies of Ms Gibson’s ilk, and their miasma of populist delusional contradictions that dog the KAP.
