THE final magnificent piece in The Ville Resort- Casino’s $ 43 million redevelopment is now in place with the opening of The Palm House next week.

The completion of the highly anticipated buffet restaurant marked the culmination of more than two years of extensive construction on the ocean- view resort and casino which included revamping its hotel rooms and lobby, a brand new stateof- the- art functions space, resort pool precinct, and four new food and beverage outlets.

The Ville chief executive officer Michael Jones said The Palm House was the final stage of the property’s transformation.

“The redevelopment has been a huge undertaking and it’s been a long road to get to this point, but we can finally say that the redevelopment is complete,” Mr Jones said.

“I know our hotel guests and locals in particular have been really looking forward to the return of our famous buffet, so it’s a really exciting time for us to finally have The Palm House open for business.”

The Palm House is The Ville’s buffet restaurant featuring al fresco dining, live cooking stations and a show kitchen for breakfast and dinner seven days a week.

The Palm House Manager Cody Coulton said the restaurant aimed to change what diners thought they knew about buffet dining.

“The word buffet traditionally makes you think of those long benches with tray after tray of pretty uninspiring food,” he said.

“What we’re trying to do with The Palm House is change people’s perceptions about what a buffet restaurant can be by adding a bit of contemporary flair.

“What we have planned in terms of the way all the food will be presented is something that Townsville has never seen before.”

Mr Coulton said the live cooking stations would allow diners to have things such as steaks cooked to order, which added a whole other dimension to the experience.

“It’s definitely not going to be your run- of- the- mill buffet,” he said. “One of our main goals is to showcase amazing fresh produce so people can expect lots of locallysourced tropical fruits and vegetables, top quality meats, and the absolute best fresh seafood we can get our hands on.”

The Palm House opens to the public for breakfast and dinner on Friday, July 27. Bookings can be made from 10am, July 24.
