Listen to the voters

- SANDRA CHESNEY, Jensen.

I READ with mirth the letter from Peter J. Smith attempting to cloud the Labor and LNP’s image with his concern with the KAP.

Sorry, your comment won’t detract from the facts that the LNP, both state and federal, are dictatorial and so far to the Left that they risk making Labor appear Centre- Right.

I presume from the tone of your letter that your leanings are to the LNP. Well, I am an ex- member of the LNP and have been a candidate for the party. No amount of letter writing will improve the party’s image or prospect of success – only actual actions will translate into votes for the LNP.

As an independent Thuringowa councillor for 20 years, I can tell you that “if you vote for what the communities want” and not along the party lines you are maligned and criticised, not only by the LNP but also the Labor Party.

Before you accuse me of being a Katter’s Australian Party member, I will say that I have had many dealings with Bob Katter on issues for North Queensland during my time in council. He was always anxious to find out all the information on the problems and the community concerns.

I believe when you sit in council or Parliament, it is not your bum on that seat but those of the thousands of people who voted you in – not a party.

If Bob Katter votes for jobs, takes on the plight of the workers, farmers and business it does not mean he is in bed with the Labor Socialist Party. It’s called representing the constituents, who voted you to Parliament. If the party’s policies are good you will have no problem representing the constituents.

In today’s Left- biased governments most policies are leaning to communism and socialism, how thin is the line that divides us at the moment.

As explained by socialist as if you earned $ 1000 the Government would take $ 700 and leave the worker with $ 300. Who is going to work and generate wealth and give it all to someone else? Good thing is you only have to work two days a week for the same money.

As it stands now in our society, the dad and mum have to work to provide a reasonable life for the children who are put in daycare.

Here’s an idea: concentrate your energies into injecting some common sense into the political debate. No more “We said – they said”, that is just the pea under the cup distraction.

Time to concentrate on things we CAN change. Time for real positive physical action like: Adopt a commonsense realistic policy on global warming and dump the philosophical ideology with someone else’s hard- earned money.

Remove solar subsidies – reduce electricity cost for ALL.

Adopt a commonsense policy of freedom of speech – dump all discrimination legislation.

Addressing the imbalance and bias in the education of our children, educating our children with a sense of pride in Australia and its values.

Building tangible assets for the community such as water and jobs.
