TB front page re the prison artist. My first thought was what a good news story. Maybe the legal issues could be overcome by putting any profits towards art classes for inmates or other such programs. The benefits for the artist would be his growing reputation and future living potential on release. JJ Kirwan Of all the crime in Townsville, the most serious is some bloke selling his paintings? Hopefully he’ll go back to a life stealing cars, or breaking into houses - something more acceptable. KL 4814 I know Hans Watt was selling art work illegally, but at least he was trying to do something to improve his lot and perhaps have a lawful career after release, which can’t be said about most inmates. Hope he’s not judged too harshly. Ags Hermit Pk In regards to airport route... In closing halifax street n continuing ahead on meenan st this road and the vacant land at the end are both prone to flooding.... not even just in big rains... Tracey.... Garbutt Pedro get ready to be disappointed when Adani’s finance mysteriously falls through. Ever heard the term “Indian Giver”? Jeff Aitkenvale What the hell is wrong with a prisoner selling his artwork outside the prison? Painting is good rehabilitation, he is setting up a bankroll to support himself upon release and getting a name so he could make an honest living. This was a standard practice at the prison for years and years. Officers and staff bought artwork from them and their paintings were also purchased by QPS for display in the administration buildings. Bloody interfering bureaucracy. Jeff, Condon. It has been revealed that the Turkish govt has refused to extradite homegrown terrorist Neil Prakash back to Australia, to face charges. Well, that’s fine, let him stay in terror- central, where he would prefer to belong. If Prakash is brought back here, chances are that he’d be quick to radicalise fellow prisoners. The last thing we need, is a radicalised terrorist, causing more trouble, let him stay where he is. D. Bilton w/ end Traffic in Townsville is challenging at times, but this morning I was given a real treat when I saw a dog with his head out the window. Thank you driver! Brad Deeragun Chris Anstey is 100% correct regarding the penalties meeted out by FIBA to the disgraceful Phillipines players and officials ( TB 20/ 7). How a non- player can leave the bench , run onto the court and king hit Nathan Sobey and get the same suspension as two of the Aussies is ludicrous. Firstly , he and the other officials had no right to enter the court let alone throw punches and a chair and secondly , out in the real world it’s called a coward punch for which offenders get justifiably sent to prison . What a sad joke ! Anton CBD 4810 Great news that Adani is progressing. Watch 2 faced Anna & her puppets change faces again, and now talk their support. Treehuggers-- how many years for G. B. Reef to die when Adani start mining. The B of Douglad. Hey Bob, butt flicker hotline for public to report littering from vehicles has been in QLD for about 7 years now. It can be found here https:// www. qld. gov. au/ environment/ pollution/ management/ waste/ report. Happy reporting 4817 Response to Wendy Tubman T/ B, 14/ 7 Townsville was originally established as a port, and has obviously grown as a result, if she claims we are killing the reef with the future expansion, the reef should have died years ago. From the first settlement in Townsville up until the 1970s’, you name it, everything was poured into the Ross. I remember when the sugar terminal caught fire in the 1960s’, we could see the glow of the fire from Nth Ward for a week and all the sugar flowed into the harbour and up the Ross, killed everything for a couple of years, the reef was fine. Even with all the dredging in the old days, the tides cleaned up all the silt and washed it all back on to the mainland. With the modern dredging methods there is very little silt spoil. Bob Nth Ward Why is it, that some drivers seem to find it difficult to negotiate a slight curve in the road, without driving over the centre line. The section of Anne St between Fulham Rd and Charles St is one of the worst. Mg 4814 Again we have the never ending media outcry re Trump’s meeting with Putin. The socialist media is far more dangerous than either of these leaders. There is no end to the hatred and the trivia that is dished out to Trump. Trump haters go insane while a certain country quietly continues to buy assets all over the world? When we wake up it will be too late. Nev 4814 T’ville businesses encourage you to buy local, but when you get offered ridiculous trade in prices on your car.... why ? I phoned a distance away from here, and ended up tripling my trade value on the same type of vehicle, all for a reasonable drive. Wake up T’ville, or lose out. Disgusted 4814 Re War on waste. Bunnings carry a range of compostable bags made from vegetable material. no plastic at all. Frudels Cranbrook So the Red Neck Brigade thinks it has the answer to youth crime. Put simply it does not work. NT Government tried that approach at the Don Dale Youth Detention and that did not work. Only ended up in a Royal Commission. We used to hang people for murdering people and did it stop people getting murdered, No. We have to modify peoples behaviour by getting them to see the errors of ones ways. Corporal Punishment never worked. At school we had competition to see who get as many notches on ones belt from getting the cane. That’s what we thought of corporal punishment. England sent it convicts out to Australia as punishment but stopped it because it failed. Unless one adopts the Duterte solution and gets police to just shoot people without a trial you have to find alternative way BJ4825 The world was a much better place ol mate When gay just meant your happy And mums stayed home looking after the kids Their baby’s wore cloth nappies When ice came out of the freezer and apple was a fruit And a mouse was something the cat brought home Then left half chewed and shoved inside your boot When chroming was for bumpabars on cars of real steel And slipper playing cards not macas was my family’s Sunday afternoon deal I ain’t no fan of Facebook and twitter is for the birds And our politicians no longer care for us They’re just money grabbing. My kids say dad your getting old and cranky stop living in the past And all I can say if this what the future is then it’s time to bury my old a--- Because this is not the country I was born to and it makes me want to cry Our politicians I’m sad to say have hung us out to dry.
