Real life fuels poker pro’s passion

-

COME up with a believable story, tell it well and stick to it.

That’s the key to bluffing and winning at poker, professional player Jackie Glazier says.

Ms Glazier will be in Townsville from July 26- 29 for a Texas Hold’em tournament at the Ville Resort- Casino.

There is a guaranteed $ 25,000 for the winner of the Australian Poker League game.

It’s the first time this tournament has been held here.

Ms Glazier will hold a coaching course for Australian Poker League players this Thursday and compete in a teams event on Friday.

At the weekend she will play as an individual, chasing the massive pot of money.

“I love playing poker because of the social aspect of it,” she said.

“You’re pretty much thrust on to a table with nine strangers and you have to navigate all those personalities.” Ms Glazier said it was a game of deception.

“Poker has a lot of elements that relate to real life, like risk and reward,” she said.

“You have to have a good emotional balance because there’s luck involved, which can be very frustrating at times.”

Ms Glazier said if people chose to bluff their way through a hand, they had to be convincing with the story they told. Phone tournament director Allan McLaughlin on 0406 080 069 for tickets.

It costs $ 600 to play.
