Moving towards better health
SENIORS health issues will be in the spotlight next week at a special forum hosted by the Townsville branch of Australians in Retirement.
A panel of experts will speak on topics including movement exercise, eating to boost mood and longevity, keeping your mind active, eye and joint health, molecular and cell biology and keeping safe. The forum will be held at the Tony Ireland Stadium at Riverway on Wednesday, August 1.
Forum organiser Ann Nelson said the Seniors Health Forum would have something for everyone. “Our aim is to empower retirees about what is available to them in our local community to assist them to live a healthy and happy life in retirement,” Ms Nelson said.
“There will be a raft of high quality speakers, demonstrations and resources for attendees to take home with them.
“It is so important that as we age we continue to keep our minds and bodies busy so as to live the best life possible.”
Branch president Roger Walsh said that the branch felt there was a need to provide an opportunity for the community to hear of essential topics, following the success of previous forums.
“Our organisation is a notfor- profit, non- political volunteer organisation, which shares information to members to help plan and enjoy their retirement,” he said.
“This includes everything from financial education, healthy lifestyle advice, advocacy issues, aged care residence and retirement planning.”
There is a cover charge of $ 10 including morning tea, with pre- booking required.
