GAMING TRYING TO REACH FOR SKY

years from release Hello Games has worked tirelessly to bring No Man’s Sky to a level of quality that fans expected.

With the new update, they are closer than ever. Sadly this game was mired in controversy, and is a pure example about how hype can break a game. The finished result did not meet the standard, and people were disappointed.

The end product was not necessarily bad, it just felt terribly unfinished. But this is a story of redemption people, the makers are still having a crack. Last week’s update was the largest in memory, with vastly improved visuals and overhauls to the gameplay. There’s also character creation, third- person view but more importantly, multiplayer is actually done.

Now you can journey the vast universe together with an odd person you met randomly, or a friend that is probably going to shoot you in the back with their mining laser, ah well.

In your spaceship you can explore a wide range of planets ranging from serene to nightmare fuel. If you don’t like where you are, simply move on.

Mining and crafting is the common pastime in No Man’s Sky and is vital to advancing the game. But that’s where the problem lies for me. Without any narrative of substance and direction beyond the discovery of alien languages, all the other gameplay is an endless loop of mining that grows stale.

The improvements make it well worth revisiting, but it remains a sandbox game that struggles to hold my attention.
