Townsville Bulletin

Cathy can keep talking, thanks

-

IN response to Mike Abraham’s letter “O’Toole, stop mouthing off and just start working” ( TB, 2/ 8).

Mike, I feel you are incorrect on a couple of points in your letter regarding Cathy O’Toole.

1. Cathy has said from the beginning that she welcomes jobs for Townsville and if Clive can open QNI then Cathy ( and the rest of us too, Mike) welcome those jobs.

However, he needs to go through reasonable steps first.

These include sorting out his dealings with the port, which is his own commercial business dealings, and he needs to pay his debts to the various organisations and businesses both inside and outside of Townsville.

2. It is extremely important we have someone who is born and raised in Townsville representing Townsville. Why? Because Cathy knows Townsville’s history, knows the general feel of the community and what we need and is advocating for things that our city actually wants and not what people from the south think we need.

3. Turnbull must be called out on his lack of investment to Townsville.

It is s fantastic to see our representative standing up to the Government and fighting for proper investment and projects that will create jobs and bring industry confidence back into our city.

Cathy can keep on “mouthing off” on my behalf if it means we can get the Federal Government to actually do something for our electorate, Mike.

And I’d urge anyone who wants to see Townsville get back on its feet to support Cathy’s call upon the Government for action. JOHN MELLON,

Kelso.
