Townsville Bulletin

10 MOST POPULAR STREETS

- CHRISTIE ANDERSON property editor christie.anderson@news.com.au

TOWNSVILLE’S most popular streets have been revealed.

The Townsville Bulletin asked real estate agents to vote for the most popular streets and in the end 10 came out on top.

The streets that made the top 10 range from exclusive areas with highend homes and ocean views, to suburban neighbourhoods perfect for raising a family and streets that have you living footsteps from the beach.

All the top 10 streets offered great lifestyles, whether it’s being close to the city, or being able to live on a large block of land.

Many of the streets were easy picks such as Yarrawonga Drive, which has long been heralded as one of Townsville’s most exclusive places to live, while others were lesser- known idyllic neighbourhoods in the suburbs.

But all the streets chosen have one thing in common and that’s that they’re a great place to call home. Yarrawonga Drive, Castle Hill It encapsulates everything that is Townsville and it has very high quality homes. It has a myriad of views from the city across to the Port of Townsville and Magnetic Island and at night the view is a carnival of lights.

Stanton Tce, North Ward Having grown up in North Ward and lived in Stanton Terrace for my school age and university life I still regard this as one of the best streets in Townsville. Some parts of the street have better views than others but it is so close to The Strand and the CBD it is very hard to beat from a lifestyle point of view. The street also has a lot of character with some houses dating back 100 years or so and others that are very modern.

Alexandra St, North Ward Alexandra St has a real sense of community and on top of this, it is tree lined and full of beautiful character homes. There is an excess of 17 children under 12 with friendship gates dividing the properties and also an active neighbourhood book club.

Aspley Drive, Kirwan In its true form, Aspley Drive, Kirwan is certainly one of Townsville’s most prestige dress circles. It has it all, impressive master- built homes overlooking the fairways of the Tropics Golf Course. The golf course itself has its own backdrop of the neighbouring Bohle River with beautiful native trees as its border and with sweeping views of The Pinnacles silhouette in the distance. This quiet area of Kirwan, is a hidden secret to most who stumble upon it.

Palm St, Rowes Bay Residents really seem to get the best out of life. In the afternoons, you can see many of them enjoying the view and sea breezes from their front deck or veranda. They look out for each other, children play in the street, running from house to house. Sometimes we’ll see a bike or scooter sitting on the grassy verge because someone’s had an offer to play. Residents are generally active with many taking advantage of the running and walking tracks along the beach or the beach itself.

The Esplanade, Pallarenda This street has it all. Excellent views of Magnetic Island and hearing the ocean every day most certainly has a soothing mood. For those who still like the city life, you are five to 10 minutes away but far enough from the hustle and bustle. The older homes are slowly transforming into resort- style homes offering great value and lifestyle. This street feels like you are on holidays every day.

About Town Real Estate agent Frank Fabris The Strand via Cleveland Tce, North Ward ( Melton Hill) It has one of the best, if not the best views in Townsville. Where it’s situated you get views right around to Mount Louisa. Where it’s located you have easy access to everything Townsville has to offer.

Chelsea Place, Condon This street has great- sized homes and blocks but it’s still really close to 1300 SMILES Stadium and shopping centres.

Haughton St, Mundingburra One of my favourite streets is Haughton St in Mundingburra. I just think it’s stunning. It’s a good central location with proximity to some very good schools. It’s got beautiful rain trees that give a lot of shade and just make it feel like you’re living in a nature reserve. It’s just across the road from Anderson Gardens too.

Ray White Geaney Property Group sales and marketing consultant Sean Breitkreutz Macadamia Court, Bushland Beach The winner of a Tidy Town Street award in 2005 ( the sign is still up on the street post) this court has traditional large allotments and is still one of the neatest streets in Townsville. The gardens on just about all of the properties are meticulously kept, there are established trees, tropical- inspired gardens and most properties have access to groundwater so the court is always green and lush. The court has direct access to the beach and beachfront hotel through walkways rather than roadways.
