New headquarters for not- for- profit agency

- CHRISTIE ANDERSON

CARERS Queensland has a new headquarters after relocating to an office in Mundingburra.

The not- for- profit organisation, which provides support for unpaid carers, moved into its new office at 99 Ross River Rd last week.

Carers Queensland team leader Kirsty Ahern said the new office location perfectly suited the organisation’s needs.

“We were looking for a new office and ( to) have disabled access and a disabled toilet, which was really important, which was why this particular location ended up being chosen,” she said.

Ms Ahern said they offered a variety of services to a huge range of carers, ranging from children to the elderly.

“We offer an advocacy service, a counselling service and we have carer support groups across the region,” she said.

“Our youngest carer is eight and looks after a parent with a mental illness, and our eldest carer is 96 and looking after his wife, who has dementia.”

The lease was negotiated by Shaun McLaren and James Pascoe from Colliers International.

Mr McLaren said the new office was a great match for Carers Queensland.

“It’s in a great location with good exposure, plenty of park- ing and disabled access,” he said.

“The layout suited them as well because they haven’t real- ly had to change anything internally so it meant they could move straight in.”

Carers Queensland will also be hosting an open house office- warming on August 22, from 10am to 1pm.
