- MUNDINGBURRA STATE SCHOOL

MUNDINGBURRA State School has come up with some quirky and creative costumes for this year’s Book Week.

The school celebrated the entertaining week by holding a Book Character Parade.

The entire school community got involved and embraced the theme, Find Your Treasure. Students dressed as their favourite book character and assembled on the oval to parade for parents in their creative costumes.

The teachers joined in the fun as well, with Kristy Nash and Kim Chapman in disguise as chickens from the book Chickens Eat Salsa and Jonelle Abraham dressing as the Paper Bag Princess.

Heidi Cupit created a treasure map costume, Tina Howie sparkled as Ana and Danni Dunstan as Elsa, representing the Year 2 teachers.

At the conclusion of the Book Parade, the school was delighted to be joined by past student and founder of Magneticon Bev Hone and her fellow Cosplayers to share the joy and passion of books and help bring fantasy to life.

Ms Hone attended Mundingburra State School from 1971- 77.

“We are thrilled to join Mundingburra State School this year and have the opportunity to read to the junior children,” she said.

“It is so exciting to see the students using their imagination.”

Mundingburra State School librarian Kerrie Thompson said having Ms Hone and her team visit the school enhanced the Book Week experience for students.

Prep to Year 2 students embraced Book Week by reading award- winning books Maleficent, Obi- Wan Kenobi and Tin Tin, much to the excitement of the children.
