Voters set to revolt

-

WHAT is it that I do not understand with our elected representatives – federal, state and local?

Is it that party politics cripples the expectations that we have once our votes have been cast until another re- election comes around?

I at least say “yes” with emphasis.

That of course infers that the elected representatives now find it easy to ignore our thoughts for the immediate and future progress of our “wants” for the short- term gain of their own personal and party ideological progress.

Nah, never happen if you listen to them.

Also hard to separate from their media efforts, of course, is the public information stream that consists of “neutral commentators” in their various media visual and audio programs and their “neutral” invited guests.

I now accept that they think that I can’t differentiate between all sides. It’s all about news – if it is not happening then let’s create it.

It can be a bit squeamish to see some of those young reporters trying to hold the line and establish their presence.

Leadership change? Old hat – ignore us plebs casting our vote – you know what we want don’t you! Wrong! They’ll talk to us before the next election – my local federal member stands beside the road waving to me for goodness sake before each election – I’ve never seen him at my door or respond to at least two emails.

Oh, he lives about 350km away as well – probably difficult for him to travel.

So today at least, there’s no leadership challenge at the moment for both sides – their personal and party attacks do not impress me and get us where? I listened to the Australian Parliament on the radio ( the Senate).

Oh wow! What value for money and what interesting proposals, comment and debate raised. I wish. What a disgrace our system of government is at all levels.

I am sick and tired of party politics. I am sick and tired of minority influence and being ignored by elected representatives and party organisations ( which now include unions and business) being put before the result of my vote.

Laugh at Donald Trump and the USA at your own risk – we have our own version and it’s an insult to the people voting for you representatives.

Smarten yourselves please. up GEOFF RAINFORD, Annandale.
