Rural folk know correct way to help neighbours
THE rural communities of Bluewater and Toolakea put on an amazing thanks celebration for the efforts by the Rural Fire Brigade, police, medics and volunteers, when faced with the recent severe bushfire situation.
These communities were given plenty of brilliant support in their quest to show their gratitude.
This support came from Woolworths, specialist entertainment operators and lots of donations to raffles by North Queensland businesses.
There was also loads of hard work by local people with no hidden political agendas.
Wouldn’t this attitude be a blessing if it spread to the local political scene in finding collaborative solutions for fixing an array of problems. These include dealing humanely with brumbies, the growing waste issues and the constant alterations to infrastructure bought from southern states.
Then there is the constant bat problem which can only be solved by firstly fixing their habitat denigration. There is also, of course, the politically charged water issues which apparently can only be solved by southern state intervention.
Do our leaders believe we are budding “hillbillies” who require constant supervision?
No, these rural folk help out their neighbours as a matter of course.
