Dishing up Maggie’s morsels

- VICTORIA NUGENT

SIGNATURE dishes from Maggie Beer have helped give seniors a tasty experience at Bolton Clarke’s Rowes Bay residential aged care community.

The residential community has been building on a growing relationship between Bolton Clarke and the Maggie Beer Foundation. The foundation was established in 2014 to improve the food experiences for older Australians, particularly those living within aged care homes.

At Rowes Bay, residents and their families were treated to a Feasting Day as part of Seniors Week, with a menu including wattle seed and hazelnut biscuits, osso bucco, chickpea and winter vegetable curry, cake and pumpkin and ginger soup. Bolton Clarke’s work with food innovation to support health, wellbeing and independence was recognised with an Innovation of the Year award at the 6th Asia Pacific Eldercare Innovation Awards, announced in Singapore in May.

Bolton Clarke general manager hotel services Bill Laird said the event was part of the ongoing rollout of innovation to support excellent food for all residents. “Our food innovation is part of our ongoing co- design work to ask customers what they want and create responsive solutions,” Mr Laird said.

“We’re excited to be working with the Maggie Beer Foundation and getting communities involved to restore the dignity of shared meals, build social interaction around food and ensure all our clients have access to fresh and nutritious meals with plenty of flavour and variety.”
