- LEE PEARCE

GREYHOUND racing returns to the Townsville Showgrounds this afternoon with a 10- race program.

The feature events are two heats of the Bohle Barn 4/ 5th Grade over 498m.

Race 5 is the Bohle Barn 4/ 5th Grade Heat 1 over 498 and this is a very open affair with several greyhounds that could take this race out.

Rhonda’s Dougie ( 1) for Kerry Griffin has had four starts over the journey for two placings including a third last week from box eight, place chance.

Licorice Shot ( 3) for Rhonda Essery won a heat of the Derby, he ran third in the Derby Final last week behind Poppy Chooky and he has each- way claims.

Poppy Chooky ( 7) for Heath Ardle won the Derby Final last week from this box and should start favourite.

Rimba Sambia ( 2) for Carol Pickard ran a good second last week behind Wild Wish from box eight, drawn closer to the rails. She is the danger, and has each way claims.

Race 6 is the Bohle Barn 4/ 5th Grade Heat 2 over 498m.

Lodgement ( 4) for Harold Hovi should start favourite.

He has won his past two starts over both the sprint and this journey with a best time of 28.84 seconds.

He will be hard to run down on the bunny.

Wild Wish ( 7) for Mate Rajan won over the trip last week in 28.97 from box three and has drawn wider this week.

He has good box manners and is a threat to the favourite.

Swap Me ( 8) for Heath Ardle ran a good second last week in the Derby Final be- hind Poppy Chooky and has a strong finish.

No Not Me ( 1) for Andrew Wooler is drawn well close to the rails. She is backing up from Cairns on Friday night and has a place chance.

Note twilight meeting owners trainers and patrons that kennelling closes 3.09pm and first race is 3.54pm.
