Location is fit for purpose

- CHRISTIE ANDERSON

A NEW gym offering group fitness classes, personal training and a supportive atmosphere has opened in an industrial warehouse in West End.

PLC, which stands for Premium Lifestyle Club, has started trading at 2/ 179 Ingham Rd in West End and already has 80 members.

It’s the tenth PLC franchise to open in Australia. Owner Peter Taifalos said the premises offered great exposure, being on a main road, and were in a central location.

“I liked that it was on a main road and the size of the building, plus it’s so central, so you can pretty much get to this spot really easily from anywhere in town,” he said.

“It was a big industrial warehouse building but it was a really clean one, which was what we wanted. “Things are busy, so it’s going really well.” The gym has five functional fitness classes a day offering a high- intensity mix of cardio and weights, while they also offer yoga and pilates.

PLC caters to all fitness levels from beginners to athletes.

Mr Taifalos said after working as a personal trainer for other people for several years it had been a dream of his to open his own establishment.

“I had been working for someone else for four or five years and I reached my peak there and I just wanted to have my own establishment, so I’m very grateful for the opportunity,” he said.

“We’re all about the culture here and family and I love how open and welcoming everyone is.

“We’re trying to build something bigger than fitness and fitness is just the outlet for bringing everyone together.”

Colliers International Townsville leasing executive Mitch Barnes said the building provided the perfect space for the new business.
