New office has echoes of the past

- CHRISTIE ANDERSON

ETHOS Interiors has moved into a new office in North Ward and the new home has no shortage of history.

The design firm is now based at 27 Mitchell St in a heritagelisted building that’s more than 100 years old and was first used as an army drill hall.

Ethos Interiors founder Anna Williams said they had been based in a corporate office in Garbutt but she wanted a space that better reflected the creative nature of the business.

“It’s a great old building with a lot of history,” she said.

“We wanted to be closer to the city and this place was sitting empty.

“It looked like a beautiful space for an office with all the natural light and the gardens.

“It has a homely feel and we can have a bit of a living space and that nice, inviting feeling rather than just a corporate office.

“Also from a Google search perspective, having a 4810 postcode was a bonus because we come up in Townsville searches.”

Ethos Interiors services the commercial and residential sectors and work in Townsville, Cairns, Port Douglas, Ingham and the Airlie Beach area.

Ms Williams said the new office also allowed them to add another selection room for their clients.

“Now we can have two selection spaces separate to our offices, because we do often have a few people in at once,” she said.

“We’ve had really good feedback from clients and everyone just says how stunning it is.

“We wanted a space that was great for us to work in and great for our clients to be able to select colours, paints and things like that.”
