Shorten will ensure our schools are well funded

-

AS A registered teacher I am proud to stand with Labor which is investing in education.

Labor has announced a Shorten government will deliver:

• $ 14 billion for public schools over the next decade;

• $ 1.75 billion into early education.

Labor’s investment will see $ 647 million into Queensland over the first three years alone. That is the equivalent of 1631 teachers or 2807 teacher aides.

This will greatly benefit our schools. Kirwan State High, for instance, will receive over $ 1.9 million of investment in the first three years allowing it to offer a broader range of subjects including languages, coding, the arts and vocational education.

Labor’s investment will let all children reach their potential, no matter where they live or how much their parents earn.

Labor’s early education investment will introduce a new two- year National Preschool and Kindy Program, guaranteeing about 700,000 Australian children a year to be able to access subsidised preschool.

Labor can pay for our investments because, unlike the Liberals, we’re closing tax loopholes for the top end of town and making multinationals pay their fair share.

Only Labor is committed to ensuring every child and student gets the education they deserve. CATHY O’TOOLE, Member for Herbert.
