STEM’S BIG STAR
THURINGOWA State High School Year 10 student Willow Wells has been selected to participate in an indigenous STEM summer school in Adelaide.
Willow ( pictured) will attend the Aboriginal Summer School for Excellence in Technology and Science ( ASSETS) for her outstanding achievement in science, technology, engineering and mathematics ( STEM).
She is one of only 105 students from across Australia to be selected to attend one of the three summer er schools which will take place next January. nuary.
Willow was also named med a 2017 National Indigenous STEM TEM Award Winners for her achievements in the STEM TEM fields, and has served as an Indigenous STEM Ambassador in 2018.
Willow was awarded d the CSIRO Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Science Student Award for her passion, commitment and leadership skills in STEM programs.
Among multiple other her STEM programs and excursions, Willow was s also selected to be a participant pant in Education Queensland’s ’ s STEM Girl Power Camp this year where she joined girls from across Queensland to undertake a variety of STEM events and experiences.
The CSIRO Indigenous STEM Awards recognise the achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students, teachers and scientists, with a view to inspiring more Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander student participation in STEM studies and careers.
